The Sun is ALWAYS shining!
My career has taken me to the West Coast numerous times over the past twenty years. Each visit fills me and feeds my soul from the sheer beauty, diversity of plant life, the sweet breeze that comes off the Pacific Ocean, and the sunshine, oh the endless sunshine.
But there is one more interesting aspect of Southern California and that is its marine layer. This marine layer is a great metaphor for our life. Every morning – I emphasize every morning – the locals wake up to what looks like a dismal, grey, and rainy day. If you were to decide what to do that day while looking at this marine layer, you might not plan to go out, you might think that day is going to be depressing. BUT, for those who live there know to wait, just wait for it, and in a relatively short time the marine layer disappears, and the sun comes out.
Our lives are the same. When we judge too quickly by what is before us, we often declare that our life is hard and that it isn’t working. This is quite short-sighted. We are called to raise our sight above and beyond what is before us because here is the truth, the sun is always shining above the clouds, above that marine layer. There is always something working for us, on our behalf even when things look dismal.
Do not believe what you see! Your sight sense is truly a beautiful sense, and beauty can be quite intoxicating, but our sense of sight can also distract us from our inner landscape, from our resources to heal and recover. In order to connect with all these resources, we must not let the outside determine our reality. You must determine your reality. You must know deep within your being that the sun is always shining.
Try this way of looking:
I close my eyes to the effect of the world around me. I shut off from any outer stimulus that might distract me from my brilliance and, instead, I look to the heaven of my consciousness. I see my life as working, working for me, on my behalf. I see all distractions as temporary. I give no power to the world of effect. I am so much more than that. I am enough, worthy, and valuable.
I have the faith of Spirit and the conviction of Principle to move forward gracefully and powerfully in my life.
And so it is.
