Forgiveness by Michelle Wadleigh
A Path, A Promise, A Way of Life
The Forgiveness Workbook
Forgiveness as a life practice sits at the heart of all beautiful healing transformations. This book written by Rev. Michelle is packed with practical, spiritual, and metaphysical reasoning and practices to support you where you are on your journey toward freedom.
You deserve to be free. You deserve to put down the baggage of your pain and suffering and to stop carrying the weight of those who you think hurt you. This is your time to soar. What does that mean? It means that once your transform the pain and suffering and open up to forgiveness, love, and compassion, you will find the strength in you required to feel wildly, wonderfully alive.
In this book, you will have an opportunity to look at your world with a 360-degree point of view. Contained within the pages are forgiveness practices, rituals, and scripts that you can record in your own voice to listen to before you sleep at night.
Experience the YOU, you were meant to be.
Forgiveness: A Path, A Promise, A Way of Life makes a great book study. You can download and use this study guide created by the author: Forgiveness Book Study Guide
Please keep in mind that much of this work can go deep. Unless you are a trained professional, please move slowly and encourage people to seek help from a professional if needed. It is critical that you know everyone in your book study and that you have agreements around things like no cross-talk and confidentiality.
Planned Happiness Institute and the author, Michelle Wadleigh, take no responsibility for the conversations and guidance given during the book study.
Note to Ministers from the Author:
The world is in pain.
I think you would agree that there is an abundance of pain and suffering in our world today. There are wars, genocide, people facing food and housing insecurities, racism, homophobia, misogyny, and a wide variety of discord all around. You will notice that I did not mention the political climate.
You and I have committed ourselves to stand at the front of the room and remind people that they are not at the mercy of conditions, that hope is alive. However, this is challenging when you read the news.
Pain is real; suffering is an option, but only when you know how not to be engaged. That is the role of spiritual leaders.
To Teachers of the Science of Mind Specifically:
Science of Mind is a powerful teaching—open, deep, and so profound. But as you know, we have been dealing with an element of denial in our communities. This denial leads our members and practitioners to not acknowledge some of their deeper and unexpressed pain, hence, Spiritual Bypass. It's a symptom of not wanting to, or not being taught to, be brutally honest and positively powerful at the same time. When we try to 'be happy' all the time without healing our inner painful elements, it causes us to attempt to move from a state of suffering to bliss without doing the necessary work.
You might have been taught in this very same way.
But we are growing and doing things as we have never done them before, and it is time to do so. If I were in charge of our education, and very specifically for our practitioners, I would require deep and profound forgiveness and shadow work. Of course, I would; this is my focus. But set aside my perspective and look at the people in your care. Are they trying to function on top of dysfunction? I can tell you right now that many of them, as well as many of us ministers, are.
My book, "Forgiveness: A Path, A Promise, A Way of Life," is written for all spiritual metaphysics but without our jargon. This was intentional. There is a big world out there, and my dream is to support the masses by teaching them the same Principles we use, all while using secular language. If we cannot communicate what we believe without the jargon, then I would question our Principles.
The book invites deep inquiry, discussions about responsibility, the limitations of reliving our stories, and the consequences of not forgiving in the deepest possible way.
My book is dedicated to you, to us as a larger body, and to the freedom that results from forgiveness. Consider using this book for study in your Centers, and possibly identify an experienced practitioner to facilitate a free book study.
I remain available for help and coaching, and I do make cameo appearances in the book studies when invited.
To Unity, Divine Science, and Other Metaphysical Teachers and Ministers:
The same encouragement applies to you, your chaplains, deacons, and practitioners. I isolated the statement above only because I am more familiar with the culture of Centers for Spiritual Living. However, as far as I can see, the world needs all of us—all of us—to raise the consciousness and awareness of all our members in order to become more fully healthy citizens of the planet.
You are doing good and holy work. Now that I have left my pulpit, my goal is to support any ministers, teachers, and spiritual leaders who work diligently to uplift and inspire those within your sphere of influence.
To All Spiritual Leaders, Some Notes to Consider:
• The book is required and is available on Amazon. It is designed for an 11-week book study, but you may shorten it if you wish.
• Please keep it simple and proceed slowly.
• Never attempt to guide anyone beyond your training.
• We have Forgiveness coaches available if you wish to offer this to your members.
• We are also about to graduate our first cohort of trained book study guides if you would like to engage someone from outside your community for support.
• Be on the lookout soon for a suggested four-week Forgiveness Sermon.
• While we offer all this support for free, we remain eagerly open and available for your financial support and gratitude. Give here if you feel moved to do so.
• Lastly, we have a regular schedule of Forgiveness and Shadow courses designed for people just like us, including options exclusive to ministers. If you have sufficient interest—10 people or more—we will also be available to teach one of our courses for your community and share the proceeds with your community. You handle the advertising; we provide the teaching, and your church/center benefits.

Testimonials
We just used this book in a study at our Center. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Every single student had some breakthroughs and realizations. (Including the student writing this.)
The most common praise was for the book’s/author’s clarity, structure, sequencing and comprehensiveness. They all benefitted from the exercises and raved about the treatments and affirmations.
Michelle has done a great job of keeping the language universal and relevant, while teaching our spiritual tools. I’ve really latched onto her terminology of ‘radical honesty’ – rather than my previous go to – ‘brutally honest’.
I thought I had processed a lot of my past, and I have, but this showed me there’s always more work/clarity/freedom to gain. That whole 70x7 thing… It brought up other things to forgive and perspectives of the others involved that I hadn’t really ever considered before, which helped release more and more.
I mean we all have some things that we could release a little more and this book gives you the tools and processes to do that and be more free and more present. Who doesn’t want a lot more of that?!!
~ Rev. Walt Brewer

Just received the book, so I haven’t read the whole thing. This is what I know for sure….. Michelle “walks the talk”. She doesn’t just write & talk about forgiveness, she lives it. Her story…..her life proves it. This book is deeply substantial about forgiveness and I believe anyone can follow & do the work to arrive at FREEDOM! I can see this work as powerfully transformative in our world! Whole world 🙏🏼
~ Frankie
This book, this work helped me release unforgiveness I'd been holding onto for years! This is a powerful work and Michelle is the real deal. Reading this book AND doing the work will transform your life. It transformed mine. Give yourself the gift of forgiveness.
~ Jude
It is hands down the best book about forgiveness EVER!
~ Lonnie
Rev. Michelle’s psycho-spiritual approach, both laser-focused and compassionate, not only served me well but gives me a seasoned mental health professional, new and deeper inroads with which to help my clients.
~ Cathy Duca, LCSW, author of Unmasked
Rev. Michelle Wadleigh has translated onto writing -a powerful and deeply insightful treatise on forgiveness and the healing liberation that arises from the journey of forgiving others and forgiving ourselves. This book clearly represents the wisdom that she has accrued from a lifetime of experience. This book is not to be read as a novel - but as a "ever teaching" workbook to be contemplated, studied and its guidance committed to. As noted in the book's subtitle; forgiveness is a path, a promise and a way of life.
~ Richard
This book is way more than just a nice read. This is an actual workbook that guides the reader through the deep work and processes that leads to a wonderful freedom. Rev. Dr. Michelle makes clear a challenging path of not only forgiving others, but very importantly yourself. At the same time, she points out the connection of Judgement and Gratitude with Forgiveness. Had I used this guide 30 years ago my life would have been much lighter, freer, and happier. Thank you for bringing this work in possibility to everyone.
~ Neil
Forgiveness is the key to a life of freedom, and this book is a practical, step-by-step guide to show you how. A must-read!
