Speaking Truth to Circumstance
If you are reading this blog, you are someone who is perfectly positioned to understand the message, and to know how to speak truth to circumstance more than most people walking around. If you are a follower of this blog or are a Science of Mind practitioner, minister, or student of the Science of Mind, or if you participate in Unity or other New Thought communities, you are someone who carries within you the ability to see through the illusions of life.
I am not saying that circumstances in your life are not real. I am not saying that some aspects of life are not hard or that some political and world circumstances are not happening around you. I am saying that the authority or the cause behind those things are something that we can affect because of our understanding of the delicate nature of life. Getting a diagnosis is something we might have to do, but believing in or giving power to that diagnosis is something else entirely. Struggling in a relationship is one thing, believing that you cannot overcome that struggle is another thing. Struggling to pay your bills is one thing but giving power to the struggle is another.
Speaking truth to circumstances is by far less intimidating than the title implies. The title almost sounds like you need to have an abundance of strength and make a lot of effort. Nothing is further from the truth. New Thought metaphysicians do their work in a calm state - effortlessly. We have been instructed to work effortlessly by our forefathers and yet, it is the one thing that we forget frequently.
Every metaphysical teacher tries to encourage their listeners to look past the false evidence before them. This is a muscle that is worthy of building and yet, a muscle that is difficult to build. Right there is a belief system that we have agreed upon. I am referring to believing that it is difficult. Maybe what I should be saying right here in this blog is that it is easy, and grace filled. And, in truth, there are times it is easy and grace filled. I know, being human, we have certain tendencies that can get in our way.
The tendencies that can distract us are things like thinking that we know that we know. Being righteous about what we know. Being committed to a fact that we learned but never questioned. The most difficult things to look past and look through are the things that we have collective agreement, worldwide collective agreement, about. We have spoken and unspoken agreement about such things as cancer, war, violence, drugs, gangs, divorce rates etcetera, etcetera. We are so invested in our beliefs about these subjects that we do not even question them, and there is the issue, being convinced without questioning the authority behind the fact or the statistic.
In earlier blogs, and in my classroom, I encourage students to question absolutely everything. Begin to retrieve your personal power – speak your word, speak your mind and don’t wait for evidence. Instead, create your chosen reality by speaking truth to circumstance.
