Happy Thanksgiving
The beauty of Thanksgiving is how it brings people and families together beyond the religious experience. Thanksgiving provides us with an opportunity to be into real Principle based practices without having to argue about whose god is bigger and better or about who is right and wrong.
Yes, the Thanksgiving celebrations have been based on a lie of society, so we shall take a moment to honor the Natives of this Land – by acknowledging them and by being honest that this land is their land, and we stole it by violent action.
For this moment, let’s experience Thanksgiving as a day that is solely about Gratitude, Unity, and Mindful Presence.
There is no individual alive that cannot benefit from a serious practice of gratitude. Complaining about life is such a small-minded way of getting through when, with a modicum of effort, you can quickly come to realize that just being alive is something to be grateful for – except in extreme cases. I say this because I never want to be ignorant of the struggles that millions of people do go through. For the rest of us though, gratitude should not be saved only for this time of the year.
Thanksgiving causes us to stop the craziness of life long enough to shop, prepare, and dine with the people we love. For a moment in time, we cease the mindless chatter to be fully present.
I pray for you a day of love, love, love.
