Mary – the Oak Tree
There is an extremely large old oak by the side of the river where I live. She is stunning while being old and wise and ever so comforting. Now that spring has arrived, she comes alive again as the energy calls her awake and connects her to all of Mother Nature’s sources. The love that created her begins to flow through the vascular tissues, (veins) ever so gently. The energy rises from mama Gaia as her roots are stimulated by the waking earth.
The rush of Spring moves slowly up to the tips of her branches encouraging the new growth, which displays itself as tiny little buds that soon will open to sweet light green leaves. What a display she offers us year after year, so dependable and comforting for those of us who seek to be reminded of the flow and grace of life and depend upon her for her wisdom.
When I sit under her and lean against her majestic bark, I am infused with the sweet energy that creates all, the energy that grew Mary, that created me and that created the communication between the two of us. She is a mother it seems because of the way that she gives life. I know she is a mother because she is a giver of life. Science has proven the communication that is happening just below the surface. It is how Mother Nature keeps her offspring healthy and supported.
I bring my granddaughter to Mary at times and together we hug her. I share my woes and desires, and she listens so intently, so generously, so comforting, taking from me the stress of life as she quiets my heart.
Where do you go in nature to commune, to be listened to and to be loved? We also go to the nearby Rockaway River when the weather is warm and dip our feet in the flowing waters. You have heard me say it before, nature is medicine. What medicine do you take in? Where do you refill? Do you have a relationship with a favorite tree like Mary?
